Lakeside House
We’d completed two projects for The Lakes by Yoo when we were asked to solve the problem of an unsold north-facing plot. The solution was to create a house so fabulous that its wow factor would mitigate the aspect. We went back to the Lake’s core ideas of space, nature, peace and freedom, exploding the box to create a semi open-plan, double-height space that’s flooded with light. We brought the outdoors indoors with large, glazed sliding doors that give 180-degree views of the lake and wooded estate, and clad the exterior in wood. A Gatsby version of a chalet, it’s in the tradition of great beach houses of the Hamptons or Australian coast.
