Ocean Dunes

HWO drew on its resort development experience to plan and design Brazil’s first carbon-neutral resort and eco-friendly golf course. The masterplan for the project was devised entirely with sustainable principles in mind. It embraces the topography of the 680-acre site, which features dunes, hills and a lagoon, and preserves its ecosystem. The golf course is watered via rainwater harvesting and borehole water. The resort buildings and villas are carefully oriented to reduce demand on air con, maximise light and capture solar energy. Raised floor plates and wind scoops use prevailing winds to cool, and photovoltaic panels provide as much electricity as possible.
